At highest stage: Redeveloping a bridge with EDT EURODIMA

Floor cutting with a view
The highway „Tauernautobahn“, being one of the major north-south transit routes, had to be redeveloped after 35 years in use. There, the Gasthofalm bridge is a big subproject, where the lanes have to be removed before redevelopment – in lofty heights! The required concrete cutting and drilling tasks were undertaken by one of the biggest Austrian concrete cutting companies, by DIMAS.
Next to the regular highway traffic, the reinforced concrete blocks were cut and removed by the experts in about 50 m height, before the construction could be rebuilt. Not only cutting the reinforced concrete construction into many small concrete blocks, but also cutting the steel substructure had to be done.
The cuts on this construction site totalled 800 m² floor cutting, 120 m² wall sawing, 500 m² wire sawing and approx. 1200 drillings. For these tasks, EDT EURODIMA has supplied the lion’s share of the diamond tools – approx. 90 %!The drill bits in use were in SPACE WELDING and DURAMANT quality, in order to accomplish the tasks in lowest drilling time.
For the floor cutters, blades with the innovative EURIX73, EURIX74 and FC77/78 blades were used. The first cuts were done with Ø650 and Ø700 mm blades, and the main cuts with Ø floor cutting blades. DIMAS used the well-proven EDT EURODIMA wire saws for the extensive wire sawing tasks. As the time frame was very tight, five wire saws were employed. With 150 m of our fast-cutting diamond wire, the tasks were accomplished very efficiently.
The reliability of the innovative EDT EURODIMA machines and the cutting ability of our diamond tools as well as the outstanding service of our staff were basis for the DIMAS crew to accomplish the tasks within the tight timeline.
