Wire saw modernises art collection

Also in the depths of art, the WB12T shows confidence

In the art collection „Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen“ in Düsseldorf / Germany, the section „K20 Kunstsammlung am Grabbeplatz“ has ist qualitive focus on painting of the western European and American modernity. Now, it lives up to its high expectations again and is being renovated and modernised itself. Therefore, it closes its gates for one and a half years.

As the principal Alpine needed a reliable concrete cutting company, an EDT EURODIMA customer was commissioned. The task was to open a wall of reinforced concrete in an underground parking.

The total dimensions are 1.85 m / 6.1 ft height, 1.85 m / 6.1 ft width and 0.70 m / 2.3 ft thickness. The real challenge was the low ceiling: No big or heavy device could enter the room. The solution was to cut out concrete blocks in a small size for removal. Those small ashlars had to be no bigger than 0,70 x 0,85 x 0,70 m / 2.3 x 2.8 x 2.3 ft.

Together with the EDT EURODIMA adviser, the customer decided to deploy the flexible wire saw WB12T. The appropriate tool for the heavily reinforced concrete was the diamond wire DS40FBLUE. The cutting input was approx. 20 kW, and cutting time for a one side cut surface (0.6 m² / 0.72 sq yd) was between 12 and 14 minutes. The cut location was handled in such a flexible way so that the job was done fast and smoothly.

After one and a half work days, the cutting was finished. The customer showed his enthusiasm about the excellent machine handling and about the advantageous weight/performance ratio.
