tornado cuts lock bridge
Threefold cutting
A lock bridge over the river Unstrut in Laucha, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, was to be taken down within one working day. The required procedure was to cut the bridge into four parts: two parts with 11.5 tons and one each with 15.5 and 21.5 tons.
The bridge dimensions are 7.50 m length and 7.50 m width at a wall thickness of 70 cm. For having the best possible cutting progress, three longitudinal cuts were to be done.
In order to fulfill these tasks reliably and fast, the EDT EURODIMA customer Betonbohr- und Schneideservice Beyer GmbH, from Laucha an der Unstrut, applied the high frequency wall saw tornado SB321 with its powerful 32 kW motor performance. The wall saw with its modular design can be set up and moved easily, and at the same time it is secure and low-maintenance. With the smooth-running roller rail system and the gear protection through the safety clutch, the wall saw system marks a complete and reliable partner for the concrete sawing operator.
The diamond tools in use were the wall saw blades with type EURIX 40, which provides extremely high cutting speed with this motor power range. EURIX diamond segments have evenly arranged, high-quality diamonds that cause a constantly balanced number of cutting edges on the segment outside, thus, guarantee a top cutting performance! The EURIX saw blades were used in diameter 800, 1200 and 2000 mm.
The powerful machine and the top diamond saw blades allowed to perform the cuts within very short time – only 1 h 30 min were needed per cut, including set-up time!
The customer was highly satisfied with the top quality material and the on-site support of EDT EURODIMA. For the second, longer bridge that is scheduled to be cut early next year, the wall sawing system has already gained the customer’s trust.
